Zach Walrod became a member of the University of Iowa Olympic strength & conditioning staff in August 2014. Walrod coordinates the strength and conditioning programs for Baseball, Soccer, and Volleyball. Walrod joined the staff at Iowa after a one year stint at the University of Memphis where he was a member of the Football strength staff. Before going to Memphis, Walrod worked in the Minnesota Twins organization as a strength coach for their Gulf Coast League. He also served as a Graduate Assistant Strength Coach at Illinois State University where he worked with Women's Tennis, Football, Men's Tennis and Men's & Women's Sprinters.
Walrod earned his bachelor's degree from Luther College in Health & Physical Education and then continued his education at Illinois State University where he received a master's in Psychology of Sport & Physical Activity.
Walrod is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, along with being Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified through the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association. He is also CPR/AED certified.
He resides in North Liberty with his wife, Carly.
