Ashley Renteria joined the University of Iowa Olympic Strength and Conditioning staff in July 2016. Renteria coordinates the strength & conditioning programs for Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving, Field Hockey, Men's Gymnastics & Men's Tennis. She joined the Iowa staff after a summer stint at the Chula Vista Olympic Training Center assisting with athletes preparing to compete in the Rio 2016 Olympic or Paralympic Games. Prior to the Olympic Training Center, Renteria was a Graduate Assistant Sport Performance Coach at Kennesaw State University. She worked with Women’s Basketball, Softball, Track and Field Throwers, Women’s Tennis, and the Spirit Squad.
Renteria earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Iowa in Health and Human Physiology with an emphasis in Exercise Science. She then continued her education at Kennesaw State University where she received a Master’s in Science.
Renteria is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength & Conditioning Association, Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association, USAW Level 1 Sport Performance Coach through USAW Weightlifting, as well as CPR/AED certified.
